DEAD SPACE: The Show Killer!
By far, my biggest pet peeve when performing on stage is DEAD SPACE. Nothing can kill a good show quicker than when a performer leaves a bunch of empty space between songs. It bores the crowd and makes that performer look completely unprofessional.
Here are some things that happen when a performer leaves lots of dead space in their show.
- They start to lose the crowd's attention.
- Any energy that's built up for your band, crowd, or show plummets.
- They lose the ability to tell an emotional story or create an arc over multiple songs.
- They create an overall negative audience experience.
In this week's video, we are going to look at 5 ways to bridge the gap and better manage potential dead space at every show.
- The Ready Golf Method
- The Musical Interlude
- The Conversation
- The Visual Effects
- The Group Participation
Final Thoughts
In a live music performance, bridging the gap between songs is vital. Overcoming dead space sustains your crowd's energy, fosters a deeper connection, and ensures a seamless, memorable experience, turning mere songs into an unforgettable musical journey.
