Great Entertainers - Brass & Woodwind Players
Prior to my last few years of entertaining, I mostly performed with singers, guitarists, bassists, and drummers. In recent years though, I have had a lot more opportunity to play with some fantastic brass and wind players ... and I absolutely LOVE performing with brass and wind players.
As I am writing this article, just last weekend, I performed with an extremely talented trumpet player who has shared the stage with Darius Rucker (Hootie & the Blowfish), Adele, Keith Urban, Wayne Newton, and many others.
Brass & Wind Players Help You Level to Your Show
-
Cool Sound
Think of the bright and loud trumpet, the smooth saxophone, or the strong trombone. These sounds add variety and excitement to the music. As a keyboard player, I can tell you that it is very hard to fake these sounds well. š -
Expressiveness in the Music
Brass and wind players put a lot of feeling into the way they play. Because they are such naturally expressive instruments, players can easily make the music sound BIGGER or smaller. It makes for an awesome experience for anyone listening. -
Team Players
Brass and wind players work well with other musicians. They can play with singers, guitarists, and drummers in all sorts of music styles. They're often the glue that holds the band together and makes it sounds amazing! -
They Look Awesome
Let's not forget that these instruments look cool on stage. They shine and stand out. When the players move and groove while playing, it's a lot fun to watch. -
Energy Boost
Brass and wind players bring a lot of energy to a performance. When they play, they often get into the music and move around. The combination of the exciting sound and the extra movement on stage often gets the crowd excited and makes the show more fun.
This video was actually a much tougher one to film because these instruments are ones that I have rarely attempted myself. I did rely on the help of some friends and some good old-fashioned research to make this list, but here are some really great performers in the brass and woodwind space...
- One of these performers is credited with bringing Jazz music to mainstream audiences.
- One of them was a familiar face on late-night television.
- One gentleman is a heavy hitter in the education space.
- Two of these guys participated in one of the most unique bands I have ever seen.
Let's check it out.
Final Thoughts
Having brass and wind players on stage makes the music sound great, adds emotion, helps the band work together, looks impressive, and brings a lot of energy to the show. It's a win-win for everyone!
Thanks for reading and watching.
