I Pushed Through a ROUGH GIG and How You Can TOO!
Not every gig can be smooth sailing, and sometimes, we’re just not feeling it. There is a great baseball analogy that goes with this feeling:
-
Not every show is going to be a Home Run.
-
Sometimes, you hit a Single.
-
Sometimes, you Strike Out.
Let me take you along to a wedding reception gig on a day when, honestly, I was much more interested in hanging out with my family at home. It had nothing to do with the band members, the audience, or the venue.
I just didn't feel like performing that day.
But as musicians, the show must go on – even on our ‘off’ days.
Watch as I power through, keep it professional, and make sure the audience never suspects anything! You may not feel this way on your first or even one hundredth gig, but many of us will come across the occasional gig where our heart just isn't in it ... but your audience will still deserve the best you can give.
